Indian Hills Edina Neighborhood Map

The Indian Hills Neighborhood is located in the Southwest quadrant of the city of Edina.  It is bounded on the North by Hwy 62, on on the East by Gleason Road, on the South by Valley View and West Trail, and on the West by Hwy 169.  The area boasts two lakes:Arrowhead Lake and Indianhead Lake. The neighborhood’s name stems in part from the trails and paths worn by Native American Indian Tribes traveling from the Shakopee and Eden Prairie areas to Lake Calhoun in now Southwest Minneapolis.  Their paths were used by early white settlers as well, who termed the road(s) Eden Prairie Road and/or Edina Mills Road.  When modernization required paving in the 1930’s, the “road” became straightened out and was re-named Hwy 169.  The “Indian trails through the hills” were left to be developed during the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s.  Today the Lakes in this exclusive neighborhood are only accessible to property owners of its lakeshore estates.
